BANKERS INSTITUTE OF THE PHILIPPINES (BAIPhil)
PRESIDENT's MESSAGE - BAIPHIL JOURNAL
Lydia C. King
President, BAIPhil
Change is the constant driving force in the world today. In less than a year, the global banking landscape as we used to know it has been extensively redefined, and there is no telling how it will look like in a year's time. In a world where change is a constant, survival is no longer the exclusive right of the financial giants. Rather, it is a prize reserved for those banks that know how to make good use of their knowledge and are always vigilant in the face of great uncertainty.
Against this backdrop, knowledge has become the most important asset of any banking institution. For us at BAIPhil, our mission is clear-cut: to provide the training that will enable our members to create value across all environments. By training our bankers, we are able to build the knowledge that is critical for our banks to not just survive, but flourish as well. Not only are we able to build capacity, but create new knowledge which will allow us to break new ground and allow us to confront greater challenges. Our continuous investment in our human capital also ensures that we are able to provide the services relevant to Filipinos' needs here and abroad. Thanks to our collaboration with the Bangko Sentral, we have brought our services to a wider network of bankers across the Philippines, and we will continue to do so with the help of technology and through greater collaboration with our members.
BAIPhil is committed to support Filipino banks by working with them in the areas of training and research, services, organizational leadership and membership. By enhancing skill sets, it keeps banks strong and resilient despite shifts in the environment brought about by globalization, technological advances, new regulations and changing consumer habits. At the same time, BAIPhil promotes good corporate governance, recognizing that trust and integrity are the cornerstones of banking.
I am confident that in whatever environment, BAIPhil’s initiatives will shine. By building capacity and creating knowledge, we will help keep Philippine banks firmly grounded on the road to growth and strength.
